In 2014, Cooperativa Ortofrutticola VE.BA. took over the brand F.I.S – Fabbrica Italiana Specialità. Originally founded in 1902 as Fabbrica Italo-Svizzera (Italian-Swiss Factory), F.I.S. has long held a meaningful place in the cultural identity of the city, known for its traditional chocolate-based specialties. Today, F.I.S. is especially renowned for its Pampepato di Ferrara, a historic delicacy that received PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) status in 2015. This iconic product traces its origins back to the cloistered nuns of the Corpus Domini convent and was later perfected by a renowned pastry chef. Over time, it became a beloved holiday tradition, especially during the Christmas season.
