SMR Consolidated began as a small family-run coconut mill in the 1960s in southern Sri Lanka. Over the decades, it has grown into one of the country's leading producers and exporters of coconut oil and related products. In 1997, SMR established Sri Lanka’s first continuous edible oil refinery, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to innovation, research and development, and quality control. The company initially focused on coconut oil refining and has since expanded into palm oil fractionation and the production of oil- and fat-based ingredients used in baking and frying. With a strong emphasis on technological advancement and global standards, SMR now exports to over 50 countries worldwide and plays a key role in the international oils and fats market.
