Uchu Spice
About Uchu Spice
Our family started growing peppers for export to the United States in 1967. Since 1993, we have been based in Ecuador and later expanded into Peru. With years of experience across the Andean region, we have become specialists in producing and processing high-quality hot peppers, working closely with a network of smallholder farmers. We grow eight well-known pepper varieties, along with heirloom and specialty types that have unique flavors and heat levels. We partner with over 300 smallholder farming families in Ecuador and Peru. Together, we work to improve quality, increase yields, and use farming methods that are both sustainable and good for the land. Uchu ensures farmers receive fair, reliable, and transparent prices. These efforts help farming families earn extra income beyond their basic crops. Our work is driven by a clear purpose. We not only want to bring peppers to markets around the world but also respond to a problem we saw. Peppers were becoming harder to find, farmers lacked support, and changes in the global economy were affecting traditional food systems. We knew we could help change that.
