Taylor Brothers Farms
About Taylor Brothers Farms
In 1916, our grandfather began cultivating the fertile lands of Sutter County, California. His passion for farming was passed down to our father, who carried on the family legacy with a modest 90-acre farm, growing a variety of fresh fruits such as cherries, peaches, and plums. From an early age, we were involved in every aspect of the farm from planting and harvesting to helping run the fruit stand, which now serves as the site of our current office. In 1974, Richard officially joined the family operation, followed soon after by his younger brother, John. It wasn’t long before we became deeply passionate about prunes (dried plums) and committed ourselves to producing the most flavorful, high-quality California prunes.
Our shift to organic farming began well before the term “organic” gained mainstream popularity. By the late 1980s, growing concerns over chemical use led us to ask our father how farming was done before synthetic inputs became common. His insights affirmed our belief there was a healthier, more sustainable way. We started using compost and cover crops in place of synthetic chemicals to grow produce we could proudly serve to our own families. We’ve been cultivating organic prunes since 1990. Today, Taylor Brothers Farms stands as the world’s largest organic grower and international supplier of organic prunes and prune products. As a fully integrated operation grower, dryer, processor, and exporter we are also recognized as a top producer and global distributor of premium conventional prunes and prune-based products.
