About Kentaur AG
The Bichsel family began their milling legacy in 1846, nestled in Switzerland’s renowned Emmental valley. At that time, the focus was on processing grains like oats and wheat into essential food staples far from today’s cornflakes or wheat pops. By the early 20th century, the family business evolved into a public limited company and moved to a new site along the railway in Lützelflüh. As Switzerland’s first producer of oat flakes, KENTAUR naturally sought to popularize Dr. Bircher-Benner’s nutritional concept by creating a convenient, ready-to-eat Birchermüesli. Adapting to changing dietary trends over the years, the company steadily grew into a leading manufacturer of flakes and cereal pops.
