About Boysenberries New Zealand Ltd

The boysenberry is a hybrid berry believed to be a cross between loganberries, raspberries, and blackberries, first developed in California in the 1920s by Swedish immigrant Rudolf Boysen. Though initially neglected, a few plants were preserved and rediscovered with the help of George Darrow from the USDA and nurseryman Walter Knott. After rescuing and cultivating the plants, Knott saw the potential of the large, flavorful berries and named them "boysenberries" in honor of Boysen.
