Kamut Origin and Supply

Montana produces most certified KAMUT® grain under the trademark license agreement with growing conditions optimized for the large kernel size and high protein content. Canadian suppliers in Alberta and Saskatchewan offer organic khorasan wheat through established certification infrastructure. Egypt and Iran supply non-trademarked khorasan wheat at 60-70% of KAMUT® pricing, but this product cannot carry the KAMUT® brand name due to trademark restrictions. The CBI reports growing European demand for ancient grains, with KAMUT® positioned in the premium segment. For food manufacturers sourcing other ancient grains, quinoa offers similar premium positioning with different nutritional profiles.

Bulk Kamut

Kamut absorbs moisture rapidly and requires storage below 12-13% moisture content to prevent spoilage during the 18-24 month shelf life. Packaging in 25kg moisture-barrier bags protects the high fatty acid content from oxidation. Verify the selenium content specification with suppliers as this nutrient differentiator varies by growing region and soil conditions.

Organic Kamut

Montana and Canadian suppliers hold both EU Organic and USDA NOP certification for KAMUT® grain. The trademark license requires organic certification as a baseline condition, making conventional KAMUT® unavailable. Non-trademarked khorasan wheat from Egypt offers organic and conventional options.

Kamut Private Label

Retail formats include pouches, jars, and boxes for whole grain, flour, and flake products targeting the premium ancient grain market. MOQs run higher than bulk due to specialized packaging requirements. Fix the gluten declaration before production starts as kamut contains wheat proteins unsuitable for celiac consumers.

Kamut Manufacturers

North American manufacturers concentrate in Montana and western Canada with established organic handling systems. Request batch-specific CoAs showing protein percentage, moisture content, and selenium levels as these specifications affect nutritional labeling claims. Nutrada lists GFSI-certified kamut suppliers from Montana and Canada, covering whole grain and flour across organic supply. All orders are placed directly with certified suppliers, with no intermediary.
