Kern Tec Gmbh

Kern Tec was born in Austria’s Wachau region when its founders discovered that tons of valuable fruit kernels were being discarded each year. A local farmer revealed the issue while sharing apricot juice, prompting curiosity about the nutritious inner nut hidden within the hard shell. Although the kernels were rich in potential, two major barriers—difficulty in cracking the shells and the presence of hydrogen cyanide—prevented their use. Realizing that this waste extended far beyond the region to over 1 million tons globally, Kern Tec set out to transform overlooked fruit pits into sustainable, edible ingredients.
